St Pauls Cathedral London photo by JADU Tea London

There are more than 17 million tourists visit London each year. So, we decided to share with anyone, who plans to visit our wonderful city, the top seven places to see.

Vibrant, noisy and multicultural, are the ideal words if we are describing one of the world’s largest cities; London. With a population of 8 million people, this mesmerizing city holds treasures to see for the tourists as well as the residents of London.

1. Big Ben:
Big Ben is a 150 year old clock tower and is one of the most visited attractions of London. The name Big Ben is set not because of the clock tower itself, but because of the 13 ton bell held inside the tower, the Great Bell. The bell most likely was called in honour of Sir Benjamin Hall, the First Commissioner for Works . The tower has become a tourist attraction and appeared in many films.

2. Buckingham Palace:
Buckingham Palace is the official London residence and workplace of Britain’s monarchs since 1837. Changing of Guard is a major ceremony held in London. It is held in The Forecourt of Buckingham Palace. Since 1993, the state rooms of the palace are open to public from the end of July till the beginning of October.

3. Trafalgar Square:
Trafalgar Square is the most famous square in London honoring Lord Horatio Nelson’s victory over Napoleon’s naval forces in the Battle of Trafalgar 1805. A single column is the central monument of this square on which Nelson stands gazing upon London. The four bronze lions on the base are guarding the column. The National Gallery is situated on the north side of the square and is a popular tourist attraction.

4. Piccadilly Circus:
Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and a public space of London. It was built in 1819 to connect the Regent Street with Piccadilly. The name has been derived as it is a round street junction and in Latin, circus means ‘circle’. The famous statue of Eros and the iconic advertising hoarding make this place the perfect spot to stop and take pictures. Also it is a very popular meeting point.

5. Tower of London:
Presently home to the British Crown Jewels, the Tower of London was established by William the Conqueror in 1078. This tower served as a prison from 1100 to the mid twentieth century. Some famous prisoners are King Henry VI, Anne Boleyn, and Catherine Howard etc. Now, the Tower of London is a famous tourist attraction of London.

6. Tower Bridge:
Tower Bridge is a suspension bridge in London over the River Thames. This bridge is close to the Tower of London, hence the name, and is one of the most iconic symbols of London. It took eight years to build this bridge after the construction started in 1886. The tower consists of two towers tied together by walkways.

This Cathedral was built in the 17th Century, replacing ‘Old St Pauls’ . It was saved by firefighters when there was a threat of permanent damage in the bombings of the Second World War. The mesmerizing dome of this Cathedral is inspired by St Peter Basilica in Rome and is the highest in the world. St Paul’s Cathedral remained the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1962.
